While Most of VanIsle Gets Snow, Jordan River Gets Road Logs

The ocean is coming for us

2022 keeps up last year’s streak of bizarre weather

2022 carries on last year’s tradition of weird weather for VanIsle.

While most of the Island was hit with snow and icy conditions, Highway 14 at Jordan River became nearly impassable on the weekend as ultra-high tides (sometimes known as King Tides) covered the road in logs and other debris.

Islander Jay Palker posted a video on Facebook (above) showing the debris-covered highway.

A Twitter user posted that the debris made the road impassable at one point, cutting off the road connection between Sooke and Port Renfrew.

2022 is only days old. Stay safe out there.
