Kestrels are the smallest member of the falcon family. While extinct in Quebec, they are endangered in the rest of Canada.
This couple appears to be American Kestrels. They are also known by many other common names such as Grasshopper Falcon, Windhover, Killy Hawk, or Sparrow Hawk.
When hunting, Kestrels hover at a height of around 10–20 metres over open country and swoop down on prey, sparrows, small mammals, lizards or large insects.
